Letter to Parents & Carers

Monday 7th January 2019

Dear Parents & Carers,

I am writing to let you know that following the Board of Trustees’ decision last summer to change the name of our Trust from Ninestiles Academy Trust to Summit Learning Trust, this has now been confirmed at Companies House and we can start using our new name with immediate effect.

The introduction of the new Trust name does not, in any way, change the governance or leadership of the Trust or our schools and neither will it have any practical day-to-day impact on our pupils and staff. However, the Board of Trustees felt a change of name was appropriate following the expansion of the Trust since its inception, and we wanted to signal our renewed vision and purpose.

The new name symbolises our aspiration and ambition for all children and young people in our family of schools.

In the last 18 months, we have made great strides in improving standards across the Trust and this has been recognized by Ofsted. Two of our schools, Lyndon and Yarnfield, following positive Ofsted inspections, no longer require special measures. The Oaklands Primary has received a glowing inspection report under the leadership of the new Principal. A recent Ofsted monitoring report found that Pegasus Primary is making good progress. The Sixth Form College Solihull received a positive monitoring inspection where it was judged to be making positive progress.

We are delighted that all the inspection reports we have received in the last 18 months note the positive support and impact of the Trust in supporting, challenging and improving our schools.

We know that we have not yet reached the summit! We are all challenging ourselves, and each other, to aim for the highest peak of excellence in all our schools, and to support each other during the steepest, toughest parts of the climb. One of our most significant achievements thus far is to ensure that the Summit Learning Trust and our schools are now well equipped for the next stage of the ascent.

As parents, you are our most important partners in this journey, and we look forward to working with you as we continue the journey of improvement over the next few years.

Yours sincerely,

Catherine Anwar
